Venture outside Kuala Lumpur's busy metropolis to explore the quiet countryside that lies just outside the city. Visit a pewter-ware demonstration centre and a batik factory to learn about their production methods, and gain an insight into the main economic activities of the local people. Afterwards, climb the 272 steps up to the incredible Batu Caves, a stunning network of limestone caves and one of the largest Hindu shrines outside India. Wander through the caves to see limestone formations thousands of years old and keep an eye out for fruit bats and mischievous Macaques that live around the caves.
